Il disegno simboleggia la dimensione del sogno, la spensieratezza della gioventù, l'età più bella. Il palazzo del piacere viene avvolto dalla bella e giovane abissina, e con essa si fonde. L'acqua è fonte di vita e di purezza, ma sfortunatamente simboleggia il tempo che scorre.
Someone very special suggested me to paint Kubla Khan, one of Coleridge's most famous poems. I took my pencil to 'draw' the idea...This drawing represents the dream-like dimension, the magic of youth, the golden age, the age of dreams. The Dome of pleasure is wrapped by the abyssinian girl's hair. The girl and the palace become one. Water is life, purity and fertility, but unfortunately also shows the passing of time.
